On my local bike forum some one asked about the 0% interest free deals we see in the UK bike magazine we get here.
So whats the deal with the 0% interest over there ....from what I "read" you get a credit card from Suzuki -kawasaki- honda {backed by a 3rd party behind the card} and get 3 years for example to pay it off interest free...They hope you havn't payed it off in time and then hit you will HUGE interst ,plus your got the credit card to use all the time ,if you like ,till you pay it off and cancel it .
Some people think they just add $2000{ for example } on the original price when you get the bike ,so it looked interest free.
See with our bike shop finance it like 6% >> %16 from yamaha ,and same for honda.

Hey Sled,
If I may, I have seen similar ads over here- the financial institution/ bank/ credit union may often offer 0% interest rates (for those who qualify with a great credit score; 700+) for a certain period of time. Let's say... 12 months. After that, the interest is compounded for the duration of the term so the money they would have made initially is incorporated into the pocket gouging higher rate. Here, it's easier to get approved for a vehicle loan that is 3x the cost of your bike because many of the banks won't do a motorcycle loan. It's considered a luxury item and a higher risk (The rider not surviving long enough to pay off said loan) However, a personal loan or line of credit may be obtained. Honda has their own financing and Apple Computer's "credit card" goes through Juniper but allows you to purchase anything anywhere the Visa logo is accepted.
One bike shop said they would include the cost of the gear and bill it into the bike so that everything can be financed all in one shot. Most of the other places said no. Even with a descent credit score- the Apr. is significantly higher than that of my car. Certain makes and models advertised "As low as" 3.9 apr. for 12 months but don't mention that it goes up to 9 or 17% afterwards. There was an '08 Yamaha and a ' 09 GSXR that was a couple hundred cheaper than my F.I almost wanted to kick myself but decided to remain practical. Many of my tris will be over 80 miles each way. I don't think I want extreme wrist and back fatigue from one of those models.

Hi Rush . Yeah I went with Honda on my first bike ,got the bike and all the extra gear picked out at the dealer .....did a deal on final price. Then answered about 10 questions on how much I earn and dets I have etc ....put said info into the computer and 5 seconds later Honda finance{ but really a 3rd party} approved the loan . Which to my surprise was only going to cost bugger all more at the end of the day then my credit union that takes a week to get a reply.
See this add on a UK site.....just wondering what the "catch" is .

The only disclaimer I see is the 'subject to status. Terms and conditions apply' Do you think there's overstock in those particular models or it's a low cost incentive alternative to blowing an advertising budget? The YZFR6R; 59 payments of 148.33 =(8,899. then a final (60th) payment of 148.53 T.A.P. (tax?)

Nothings ever free. Its usually only available from the dealers at top price. Walk in with cash you can get it cheaper. However - No, its not like a credit card or anything. All the paperwork etc is as a loan from a loan agency that the manufacturer has an agreement with. Often its from Blackhorse finance. And the markets are very competative here - but our prices are usually way higher than anywhere else in teh world. So a GSx650F will cost you around £5500 under this scheme, but walk in and haggle with cash and you might walk out with the bike for £4800.
The terms and conditions usually include a limit on our annual mileage ( 6000 a year ) and you must maintain the bike through approved services as and when they fall due.

As Pashby says its a finance offer which spreads the cost of the bike over 3 years at 0% Advantages, Minimum deposit Can spread cost of bike over 3 years If you have the cash, can pay it off without any penalty Check the small print but if it's not a personal contract purchase there wont be a limit to your mileage
Diadvantages You may not be able to haggle a good a discount as if you walk in with hard cash You got to wait 3 years before you can get a new bike!
