Hey guys, well I think I may have just found the deal I was looking for...
There is a dealer out on Long Island who has a few leftover '08 GSX650F's (actually one of each color) and I heard through the grapevine that they have just been marked down to $4999. Now within the same hour I received an e-mail from Suzuki (owned several previous new Suzuki's, have a Suzuki card etc) about their $1000 off coupon, lo and behold one of the few bikes eligible are 2009 and prior GSX650f's. So now I'm thinking to myself... is this for real?
Now I'm ass-uming that this coupon does not affect the dealer's bottom line, my guess is Suzuki reimburses them or something? I mean they'd be taking a pretty hard hit if they sold me a new machine for $4000. But at the same time, if these two bikes have been sitting in the showroom for 2+ years there may be even more room for negotiation, especially if I bring them cash. I don't know how common it is but I could play hardball and mention things like possible rust in the tanks, needing a new set of tires because of of dry-rot or flat spotting, etc etc. May be able to talk them down another few hundred bucks that way.
Any thoughts? The blue one they have was listed at $4999 until Dec 31st of last year, the black one had no mention of a date, but I want black anyhow LOL. I called to ask and they are still in the showroom too, so it's been a good 3 months since their last price drop. This is a high-volume dealership though and the sales guy sounded very overwhelmed when I called the other day, so I didn't want to spend a half hour chit-chatting with them just yet. I'm going to try and head over there this weekend.

I actually just purchased an 08 Leftover that is supposed to be delivered to me this week. My out the door price for it was $5,152.00 which was according to the dealer after the $1000.00 rebate. I got it in black too. Good luck, I hear it's an awesome bike, and can't wait to ride.
Make sure you look at the bike. Some on this forum got left over 2008's and found they had rust inside the tank. I bought a new one for $5500 total last year, so if you can get it for $4000 then that is a steal. Of course it won't help those worried about their bikes trade in values. Of course you'll find the blue ones are faster....

Damn!! That is a great price!!

On this side of the border, the dealer keeps the incentive ($1,000), and supposedly reduced the price to match (that $4,995 price you see). So the rebate is already included in the advertised price.
The market for left over 2008's is about $5,000 to $5,500 in the US, so I strongly suspect that the price to you is $4,995 not $3,995. Watch out for dealer fees. They vary greatly (from nothing to over $600 at Cherry Hill NJ). Compare Out the door prices.
Of course, all you have to do is ask to verify (if you can get it for $3,995, and there is nothing wrong with it, BUY IT NOW - it's a great deal, and with oil up, and the economy recovering, the US dollar sinking, you will NEVER see these prices again).

Hmm interesting, didn't think to see if they already included the price, my assumption was that they did not however; these two machines have been on cycletrader.com and the dealer's website long before this rebate deal. They last updated the price of $4,999 back in mid-December, so unless they knew about this rebate many months in advance I do beleive that this price is before any discounts/incentives.
And along the lines of all those 'dealer fees', they're a bunch of BS an I have never paid a penny in my dozens of dealings with new machines. If they try to throw it into the bill I will kindly ask them to remove it or I will take my business elsewhere, generally the salesman will chuckle a bit and just hit DELETE on his keyboard. I have heard them referred to as the 'sucker-tax' by salesman more than once.
I'm going to see if I can have my local dealer match the price or have the bike transferred from the dealer in NY first, if they can't help me out I guess I'll take the 2hr drive. Thanks for the heads up on the rust though, kinda confirms the myth and I will be bringing a flashlight to check it out.

Yeah, before they had some kind of dealer rebate for $800, when I went to purchase it they canceled the 800 and put in the $1,000 cash back. Good luck!! The black/silver looks awesome!

Well both bikes were sold yesterday, they were indeed marked down to $4000 w/the discount. Shoulda jumped on it sooner but oh well, apparently they were showroom models that had been sitting in one area for 2+ years and had some scratches and stuff from people sitting on them.
Got a lead on another bike today though, also a black '08 but this one is as new as it could possibly be, it's been moved around on a regular basis too. I'm looking at a price of $5000+ dealer fees, at that price point I'm going to have to finance it so I'm waiting to hear back about my loan eligibility. Once I get an answer I'll have to put on my poker face and get that salesman to reduce or remove the dealer fees. IMO $850 is WAY too much to charge for freight and setup. This is also a Long Island dealer, these guys are notorious for being slick salesmen so I'm gonna have to step my game up.
I also saw there are a few leftovers at a dealer down in central Florida, marked at $3995. I'm a bit wary of that though...

Well if you would go used i've got a black/silver 2008 purchased new as a leftover in 2009. Adult ridden broken in the right way for the first 600 miles varying speeds and rpms then fluids changed to Amsoil (and continued to change with amsoil every 1000 miles or end of the season which ever came first). Bike is completely stock in the engine department but added up and back risers, Renthal bars, new grips, MRA VarioTouringScreen, saddlebags (soft), louder horn, tank bag, 12v power, bike cover and front and rear wheel stands. Bike is always garaged, covered and placed on the wheel stands with a trickle charger. Always washed after each ride and filled with 93 octance and fuel stabil. Bike has less then 3000 miles on her. Would be willing to take $4500 for everything if your interested. Bike is in nassau county on Long Island.

Thanks for letting me know, that sounds like a nice setup! I'm supposed to get an answer from the dealer tomorrow about my financing options, I'm down to my last straw with these guys though. If they get back to me with an answer and their promised price of $5500 out the door then I'll be going that route. If it falls through I would love to check out your bike. The trouble is I am busting my budget at $4000, any more than that and I'd have to finance. If you'd be willing to take that (cash) price then I'd love to give your GSX a nice new home (I baby my stuff too ). But again, I'll see what what I hear from this dealership before we jump into anything. In the meantime, do you have any other pictures I could take a look at?

With the 1 grand price cut from the factory, an '09 in Burnt Orange (lust) brand spanking new is in the paper for just 200 more than I paid for a well-used '08 black and silver barely more than a month ago.

Hi, For what's worth. I paid $5000 otd 3 weeks ago for a 2008 Blk leftover. I'm happy with that. They had to make some money to keep the lights on or who else will service it?

Well I gave this dealership a big eff you. They tried to jack up the price again and sneak in extra fees, and still my call wasn't returned and I never received an answer about financing. Horrible way to try and sell a motorcycle, what's wrong with people these days? Oh well, it's not worth getting angry over. If Easternfisherman will sell me his bike then maybe things will work out in the end, otherwise I'll just have to wait and keep searching. Thanks for all the info guys, good to know there's folks out there who are getting good deals and giving me some benchmarks to go off of. I'm confident something will come along in my price point eventually, and no I won't be settling for some Yamaha or Kawasaki! LOL
