I went to the Georgia Department of Driver Services today to take my riding test. I called Thursday of last week and the lady said "C'mon down, we can take care of you." Well I get up at 7:30 am, I get home at 1:00 am from work, and get ther at 8:am. I wait for an hour and the guys tells me that they do not test on Tuesdays!!! I told them what the lady had said and he said he would speak to his supervisor, but i said "Hey, I don't wanna put you guys out, I will just come back on wednesday." He appreciated my courtesy and i went about my business. It just irked me about that but hey, I can wait a day. Anyway, just thought I would vent a tad about Government Bureaucracy. If the tests aren't cancelled tomorrow due to weather, I will be fully licensed!!! <cross fingers for me>
Take care guys and gals and ride safe!
John

State of GA has licensing for cagers too? Having been in Atlanta during rush hour, I'd never have thunk it!
If you get to do the "U-turn in the box" as part of the riding test ......... be sure to turn your head around and look back where ya came from!
Eagal will be legal!! (<---wanted to illustrate my sensitive poetic side) .......................
They "HAVE" licensing... People just don't get them
I went on Monday to the MSF and riding test section when they were closed. The U-Turn section has two sets of lines, one for 600cc or less and 650cc and over. SO I thought I would try it Welp I did a U-Turn at 4 mph and did it in smaller diameter than the 600 cc test I always look where I want to go. That's the way I was taught when driving me car, so it's comes naturally with the bike.
I will be the "Legal" Eagle soon!!!
Take care and ride safe all,
John

ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I went up there in the RAIN, that's how confident I was. I get there and there were two other guys waiting to take the riding test. Well, then we are told that testing is cancelled due to standing water. I thought "Puddles, deep puddles" ya know? I go out back and HELL NO!!! It's just wet, like it was when I rode there in the RAIN!. Well needless to say I have to go back Friday now because they are closed on Thursday due to Statewide Furlough days. IT"S A CONSPIRACY I TELL YA!!!! A CONSPIRACY!!!! Ayway, I rode home in the pouring rain, disgusted and heart broken.
At least my Tour Master Jacket kept me warm and dry Take care and ride safe,
John

They cancel tests because of weather in GA? Not up here, took mine years ago in a complete down pour that you couldn't see much past the training range.
Good luck on the test!

Now, I know why people crash when a drop of frick'n water hits their windshields. I couldn't believe it myself. Yet they are doing cager testing. I guess the Testing Instructor doesn't wanna get wet. Personally now that I think about it, there should be wet road testing.

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation does not cancel class unless it's a torrential down pour. They do it rain or shine hot or cold!! I wish we had some standards, even more so like Europe and Australia. Heck, all they do here is pay $35, start, stop and give ya a dang license!! I should have gotten a passing grade for riding up and back home in the pouring rain
<end of rant> to be continued.....
