Bit embarrassing but ah well. Layed the bike over tonight. Just coming too hot into a roundabout made the first left then come to go right and down she went. Managed to tide it home. Just tried ring my insurer but not open. Pretty much what do I do? Just make the claim and tell em what happened. Or do I have to have a police report or what?? No one else was envolved, no public property was damaged. Just freakin out a little. Can't beleive it happened.

Glad you are ok. Even the most straight forward off can have bad consequences. Can't offer you much advice on the insurance given you haven't given any info on what insurer or even country you are in. Having said that it's typically just a matter of calling them and stating what happened. If it's a decent insurer (if such a thing exists) they've heard it all a million times and will just get the process going for you.
Again, glad you are ok. Get things fixed up and get back out there.

Ah mate, sorry to hear Shit happens to the best of us though I'm afraid. Main thing is you're ok. First of all, reconnect that wire and hide it lol. If they ask, we've never met, or talked! Although i don't think thye'll even look to be honest. Is it just cosmetic damage is it? Don't call the police. If no one was hurt or no one else involved, they don't need to know. All those pricks would probably do is slap you with a neg driving charge just to rub salt into the wound. Call the insurance company straight up this morning and tell them what happened. Got any pics? And hows your helmet/gear etc?

I remember on the 2010 snowy's ride i dropped my bike. It is, to this day, my darkest moment I didnt crash, i dropped. We were riding like maniacs up above Cabramurra (however you spell it), just too fast, and i was riding really well. Then i stopped at some road work and lost my footing in some loose gravel... The most embarrasing part was because I'm too tall and skinny, i couldn't even pick up my bike by myself. I had to get a mate to come give me a hand... Oh the shame! But, point is, it was only cosmetic damage, so i didn't bother getting it fixed. To this day, it serves as a constant reminder lol. But yes... A learning curve... http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa4 ... CF0325.jpg http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa4 ... CF0324.jpg http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa4 ... CF0323.jpg

Dash, that blasted gravel, right!?
Similar for me; was running U-turns back and forth along the Great Ocean Road to allow the wife and kids to catch up (A to B perhaps an hour on the bike in a straight run; nearly twice as long if I'd followed them). Final U-turn was on a gravel side-road, but paused as a bus rounded a corner, and down she went at zero kph. It was only the adrenalin and cursing that allowed me to pick my girl up (couple of cars passed but didn't stop), but strained the wrist pretty badly doing so.
Luckily the bike's damage, 'cept for a small dent in the yoshi, is barely noticeable. More damage to my pride.
No insurance claim... This time...
Cheers, Matt

Kelz,
No matter what accident or collision, the important thing is that you walk away from it. I didn't take pics of my shameful ... "incident" however, I had to borrow a car to drive 93 miles to the nearest shop that had a clutch lever then back to the bike before sundown. (bad neighborhood) She also sustained cosmetic damage to the fairing, bar ends, totally destroyed turn signal and additional scraping to other parts. On the brighter side, it was the catalyst to begin doing mods.
Consider what your insurance deductible is and how much to fix the most important parts. I personally see no need to involve law enforcement if there were no injuries or damages to property.
Well just from my experience, my insurance company paid only for my STOCK bike, they did not figure in the cost of my pipe or gear, But I did get to swap my Yosh. pipe from the old to the new bike.... Minnesota does not require the use of helmets/safety gear, insurance would not cover it....

My friend and I got hit from behind in her car driving around Canberra after we slowed down for a give way sign. Her car was un-driveable and had to be towed. We called the cops and they asked if anyone was seriously hurt. No one was, so they said they were not interested. The other driver, pissed as a newt, said "Here's my phone number, I'm going back to the pub" and off he went. I was gobsmacked.

YouThat crank case cover is going to be the killer. To get ir resprayed, they have to take it off, which means they have to charge you oil, labour, paint and so on. Mine was a little scratched, admitedly not that bad, but I've been getting away with just colouring it in with permanent marker every 3 months or so lol. Sounds stupid, but unless you look really hard, you cant tell. As for the fairings, I'd get a price on respraying them. If you take everything off and take your fairings, fuel tank and so on down to them, it shouldn't cost too much to respray them all black or something cool like that. THen you can put your own stickers and stuff on there, as again, from when i went and got my quotes on fixing it they claimed that the most expensive part was going to be getting the "GSX650F" stickers through a dealer... I ended up just leaving mine a bit scratched. Mine was a place though, no sliding envolved like yours, so it's no where near as noticable... Sure as shit, knowing my luck, I'd get mine fixed up, and the next weekend I'd probably drop it again lol. And buy a set of these to replace your broken one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Short-Brake- ... 1c238d52ca

Wow, $7,500- seems like it considered totaled; I paid a couple hundred for my bike brand new. I love new stuff but, will it tarnish your record or credit to have it written off?
Ok guys i finally have some news. repairs got approved. $700 excess (only cause if my bad driving history, otherwise would have been $400) Not sure on a time frame yet as the repairer hasnt informed me yet. No helmet cover but they gonna see what they can do. But wait................theres more.............. I hit em up for a yoshi instead of the standard pipe. and its all good how you ask??? WELL the standard pipe costs $1070 rrp so i had already got a quote for a yoshi for it ages ago and it was around 500 so i jsut asked them to put one on cause itll reduce the quote and make it more viable to repair it instead of writing it off cause the assessor told me it was boderline. so yeah i said well to save some money put a yoshi on the quote. now to sit back and wait and hope that all the parts dont take to long to be delivered. only thing is they cant get a yoshi for bout 10 weeks so i just suggested put the standard pipe on til the yoshi comes in and they said yeah thats cool. so all in all. its really turned out to be a really expensive mod. taking into account the train fares i had to pay which so far has come to nearly $300, excess $700 and loss of sleep and time ( due to the added travel time on the train). now im jsut itchin to get back in the saddle. ahh well, you learn from your mistakes ay........
finally got her back. SOOOO happy shes as good as new. except they still havent got the yoshi in so they just put the stock pipe on and will call me when the yoshis in. but man it feels good to ride again.
