Hey all, I've done a few searches regarding sprockets, so forgive me if this one has been answered before. I notice alot of you guys seem to change your front sprockets from 15 tooth up to 16.
I want to do the opposite. I just got off the phone to my Suzuki dealer, and I'm going to give putting a 14 tooth sprocket on the front a crack. Now before i get "it's just going to rev harder at highway speeds" and so on, i know it'll do that. But my bike is the LAMs approves 650FU (the under powered "safe" version. Meaning, try as i will, i cant get the damn thing to go above 185km/h in a straight line. I've come to deal with the fact that my beloved F will never be the sports bike i so desire... But its a top bike and i love her, so for now, it'll keep me out (or into as i've recently found) trouble. If i want to keep my insurance etc valid, there's nothing i can do about the lack of top end. So instead of going up teeth to improve top end etc, i'm thinking of chucking the smaller sprocket on the front so that i can have a bit more pickup and bite down low. I can still have fun down there Was just wondering if any of you guys have tried this? Or know of anyone who has, or can forsee any troubles in doing so? The bloke at the dealers had a good laugh and said its not a problem, as they make these sprockets down to 12 teeth. I realise i'll have to buy a speedo healer, but thats cool , i can live with that. Any input is appreciated.
