I know that this is fairly old thread, but I have to add something...
Most of you guys who got the 16 tooth front sprocket have stated that your speedometer is now spot on.
Furthermore, a few have said that they would rather their odometer be a little off so long as their speedometer is accurate.
As an Engineer, I have to question that... If your speedometer was inaccurate as a result of the inaccurate overall gearing of the final drive, then your odometer would be off as well.
Logically speaking, the odometer reading is a mathematical function of speed over time. So logically; if you correct your speedometer by changing this overall gear ratio, then your odometer is now more accurate as well.
Not this again!!!!!!!
Its real simple.
BOTH the Speedo as ODO meter get their signal from the SAME speed signal wire! But the signal is 'altered' for the speedo so that there's a margin for error/safety. So when the ODO is 100% correct the Speedo is designed to be about 6-7% off, again this is by DESIGN, not a fault in software/electrical components, its the way Suzuki meant to have designed it!!! Going from 15 to 16 tooth is 16/15 = 1.0666666666 Voila! Its the 6-7% difference needed to make the Speedo correct but now the ODO is off.
You just cant have both the Speedo or ODO 100% correct. Thats why I rather have a ODO spot on. Mileage is 100% true and the 6-7% margin is perfect for me so it looks to me that I'm 5-10miles speeding while in fact I'm still under the speed limit
