I would caution those using racing oil to ensure that they change their oil more frequently. While it is obviously designed for severe duty, racing oil is NOT designed for the oil change intervals specified in the Owner's or Service Manuals.

Mobil1 added the The Racing in front of what was MX4T? a few years ago, it's the same stuff with a different name, I use it in all 5 of my bikes, lawn mower, pressure washer and riding lawn tractor, no problems to date with Racing in the name.
From Mobil1.com
"Mobil 1 benefits engine life and performance. In fact, the lubrication capability of Mobil 1 motorcycle oil helps maintain peak horsepower and acceleration throughout the life of your engine. And with Mobil 1 you can go the full 5,000 miles between oil changes.
So, if you want to ride your bike long and hard and not be concerned about the oil, choose Mobil 1 motorcycle oil."
Amsiol, is fine but changes viscosity rather quickly (gets thicker, and I am looking for the test data stating such)
EDIT: I couldn't locate the test data (lost link, computer crash) but what I remember the test was comparing Mobil1 automotive oil against Amsoil automotive oil and at the 8000? mile mark the Mobil1 was showing sighs of breaking down but....the Amsoil had changed viscosity from ??w-30 to ??w-40 by the 8000? mile mark, and that threw up a red flag to the testers. Obviously if you change your Amsoil between 4000 and 5000? (or manufactures oil change interval if under warranty) It is a non issue, the longest I have left Mobil1 Racing 4T in a bike was 4600 miles. Use whatever oil gives you the most peace of mind, everyone has an opinion on oil, whatever you use just change it on a regular basis because that is really what matters

I used to use Amsoil 10w 40, and it is still great oil. But, I heard a guy on this forum used Lucas oil 10w40 semi-synthetic and he said it made the bike shift better etc.. So, I put in Lucas motorcycle oil 10w40 semi-synthetic and it does seem to shift easier, and run better. Ofcourse it could be a perception thing again, but it is quality oil, and about 3 to $4 cheaper than Amsoil that I could find anywhere. Amsoil is about min. $10 qt. (actually 946ml bottle) online, plus shipping costs. (bike dealers will rape you $15 to 20 qt. for the same product.) I got the Lucas oil at my local O'Reilly auto store for $6.95 qt. and obviously no shipping fees. Well, do what you gotta do, but I switched to Lucas motorcycle oil!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Lucas has full synthetic also, but only in 20w50 wt. and is $8.95 qt. at my O'reilly's.)

By all means then stay with that. Good price for a dealer. Probably any semi or full synthetic oil are close to the same stuff, and I change mine more frequently than the manufacture schedule, so it's strictly a personal pref as to what oil to use.

I recently switched from Repsol Semi Synth 10w40 to Mobile1 Racing 4T Synthetic since the Pep Boy's down the block from me now carries it for $8 a quart.

I just bought my GSX 650 F this spring and struggled with the same question and I agree with the rider that said that the oil you use is a very personal choice. I am a mechanical engineer with 30 years of experience as an aircraft mechanic and an inspector. I switched to Amzoil at 600 miles and changed it again at 2100 miles. I am senting you a link to the best article on motorcycle oil I ever found, i hope it helps.

Although i don't have my 'F' yet, I changed my 250 scooter oil after 50km and was blown away by the amount of metal fragments in the oil. I did another oil change at 300km although much better still some metal in the oil. I was glad i changed the oil as i wouldn't want that metal floating around in my engine. I think i'll do the same for the 'F' when i get it. I have never heard of a oil change causing problems (as long as done correctly with the right oil).

You may want to rethink changing the oil on your new bike so soon. They are two different bikes and the quality of your scoot may be significantly less than that of your new bike. I changed my oil for the first time as recommended by Suzuki and found very little metal on the drain plug magnet. The motor may need to have some gradually used oil in it to help seat the pistons properly ( but I really don't know, but makes sense at least in my silly mind I plan to change my oil again at 2,000 miles with synthetic oil. Cheers and good luck!

The 600 mile service was done free-of-charge @ the dealer. They used Shell Advance VSX 4 10W40. For the 6000km service (3750miles?) I used Castrol RS Power 10W40. Both are Semi/Half Synth oil. Don't see the point in using full synth.
