Let me help you out a little bit Sparky. This is the website's description of the On Your Bike forum.

"Discussion of Motorcycle related issues, other bikes, riding, advice, problems etc. Bring it on! You don't have to ride a GSX650F or ride at all to have something to say!"

Great first post. I hope you stick around to continue making meaningful contributions.

As for me, there's too many choices.

Nothing wrong with discussing weapons but it should be done in the Riders Club area.
Here you have to have a concealed weapons permit to carry. Some states will honor another states license some will not so you have to know these things.

Oh he's definitely for real. I don't carry a gun except in the mountains or out in the sticks camping or such. I do however carry a knive in my tank bag. The laws in the US are very lax on gun carry with the exception of a few cities and the state of California. Other countries think that strange but our Constitution provides for the defense of the people from tyrants and corruption above and beyond all other things except personal freedoms, it is our 2nd amendment right.

"The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights declares a well-regulated militia as "being necessary to the security of a free State" and prohibits infringement of "the right of the people to keep and bear arms."

The militia as defined by the original founders were the common folks in defense from the British.
We have not nor will we ever be a nation controlled completely or invaded successfully. There are probably more guns in the US than the rest of the world combined, I pity the army that decides to invade the US.
In the southern US states having a gun is a right of passage for any male (and alot of female) children over the age of 8-10 and most are taught to hunt by that time.

All we need to do to carry a firearm is go to our local courthouse fill out a piece of paper, they check for a criminal record and then issue you a permit for $9-$12 if the back ground check comes up clean. If you can't legally vote in the US, you can't have a carry permit.

That's not quite correct. The vast majority of gun crimes are committed by people who are not allowed by law to possess guns.

Mostly yes, but how many crimes are committed because of the fact that people can buy/posses a gun so easily in the USA. If you look at "Bowling for Columbine" you get a low cal rifle just by opening a bank account

If only law enforce people had guns criminal rates would drop catastroficly. But since a significant amount of the USA's Treasury Departments income is Gun related there is no going back from this I think.

BTW
Here in The Netherlands you are allowed to own a semi automatic/low caliber gun/rifle if:
- are member of a shooting range (at least 2 years)
- you dont have a criinial record (even a DUI can stop this)
- you have a safe at home or at the shooting range (with separated (different keys) compartments for ammo/gun. This will be checked yearly on random basis.

When you buy ammo it is kept in a PC database and all the shells you fire have to be returned either at the range or at the ammo store.

Of course there are some shooting accidents here in Holland as well, mostly mob/underworld related.

That's my fault, it was originally posted in the GSX650F forum and I moved it here (where it should be). I should have edited akmamulls post to prevent the confusion. Apologies. I hope you do stick around akmamull!

I don't see how that contradicts the post you were responding to.

I guess this is where everyone starts posting up statistics that support their points of view. Twenty web pages later you'll either hate one another or just agree to disagree.

By definition, I'd say this topic would only fit in the Member's Club area. But, it's still a darn strange topic. I don't see any connection between firearms and motorcycles.

Maybe I should start a thread about how I haul around my baseball card collection in my tank bag. :?

Is your point that we might still be invaded by the British... or were you making the point that the Second Amendment is out-dated?

How do you carry your cards around? In the UK we aren't allowed cards in case we cut our fingers :)

It would be good if this didn't turn into a rampant gun law thread or it will deffo go in the members section.
