I'd like to check my sag adjustment.
I understand that you want even loading on the front/rear shock, and that you want the static spring pre-load to allow for mid-range shock travel when cornering. I have read that a pre-load of "20-30mm" is about right for a track bike; 30-35mm for the street... however, this doesn't make sense to me... as this would assume that all bikes have the same length of forks. Shouldn't it be more of a percentage of shock travel?
What is a correct approximation for a street driven gsx650f?
I suppose that this is performed with the rider in full gear, in a "cornering ready" body position and with a 1/2 tank of fuel?

Very good ? nwpinot. It "should be" set up by the Dealer's service department. new or used. For freeway and hi speed it should be set to that riding style. Plus as u said "RIDER WEIGHT and FULL GEAR" also needs to be taken into account.
Plus it should be redone later, if rear shock is changed or front fork oil /springs are changed, and seat exhaust and handlebars are changed or clip ons installed.
In the real world most dealers do not do this, even my Dealer did NOT due. If you know someone who does track days and does own wrenching that pass race inspection let them help u adjust and fine tune for You.
Before the economy took a dive, You could find a lot of street dirt bike suspension shops that would set up your bike usually around $75 dollars, The ones that due dirt bikes might be able to help too.
