What mods are most important for the 650F.
I am hoping to get one soon.

Example:
Is the front suspension adequate or do you need stiffer springs right away?
How about brakes, I read reviews that stated the stock pads are less than adequate.
Larger windshield?
How about the stock seat, is it OK for long trips?
How about a fork brace?

Thanks, I am just trying to figure out the $$$$$ once I buy one.

As far as mods there are pretty much none needed. If there is one complaint for me its the front brakes, they tend to fade in the summer heat with lots of use.
I have ridden my bike on 250 mile rides with stopping for gas only with no sore butt. The windscreen is fine for riders up to say 5'10" tall. I'm well over 200lbs and the front springs are fine for my riding style. As for the steering brace I can't see needing one.
Really if you want this bike just buy it, ride it and enjoy.
If you want a go fast really hard handling bike this is not for you, I wouldn't try to mod it thinking your gonna get close to GSXR, cause your not and it will never handle or ride like one.

The front brakes could be changed with better ones. As fot the windshield i heard that a larger one increases the fuel consumption, which is not to cool at all. Power commander would be another nice feat, and a bigger sprocket. Also the the clutch and brake levers are a must upgrade with better ones, like pazzo or asv.

Thanks- I don't intend for it to be a GSXR- just to handle decently and not pogo over bumps and not dive when braking. 8)
I rode my Concours for several thousand miles before I put in progressive springs and a fork brace. The difference was night and day.
The 650F is the closest I will get to a GSXR, I can't get used to the seating position on the GSXR. The 650F is almost perfect.

a MUST modes for me:
- new seat
- vario windshield
- new exhaust (should come next week)
- spacers (dont know how to call them) to move handlebar up and back - (installed 1 week ago, and its big improvment for long trips, but now since im sitting more upright i have more buffeting, so now i need a new windshiled)

Well, the must mod for me was to lower the bike an inch. Then put Michelin Pilot Road 2's on it. Then put ASV levers on it. Then put Grip Puppies on it. Then a Vista Cruise throttle lock.

Those were musts.

Now comes Corbin seat, Givi bags, and exhaust.

Grip puppies. Other than that, she is just fine out of the box.

I never really keep a bike long enough before I trade it in on a new one to justify loosing all of that considerable expense of modding. Mods do nothing for the resale value and most dealers would rather trade a stock bike than a modded one.

That being said, I will probably have the seat re done because my ass is just not getting used to the stock seat. :(

the "must" mods are the ones that you want to make the bike your own. that's part of the fun of motorcycling. IMHO

have fun and ride safe

It's interesting to me that so many people mention the brakes as needing an upgrade. Motorcycle Consumer News tested stopping distance and they were just outside the top 10 all time best brakes.

The original poster did not mention how he intends to use the bike, so I can't really recommend any mods. If you have to mod this bike too much, then there may be better bikes for your use to begin with.

Buy the bike. Ride it. Then, see if you need any mods. Suzuki has thought about a lot of things in their design process (as do most other manufacturers). Everything has a reason to why it is the way it is (I supose the big can is for emissions). Then, mod it later based on your riding and what you like/don't like. You may like the seat. Others, may not. Eveyrbody is different.

The 1" thick mirror extnders are a must if you have wide shoulders.
Cheap, about $22usd plus a few bucks shipping.

I bought mine in August last year with a dealer installed Yoshi. I am sure it adds some jump to the bike but I have never ridden one stock so I can't compare. It is definately more visually appealing though. I did not know about the mirror extensions and I am 6'-0" and 230pounds so thanks for that info. the seat and some thicker grips would be my only other wishes.
