Haven't touched the suspension at all and don't have any complaints. The dealer suggested hardening both front and rear but I find that the roads I ride on are just too bumpy.
Havent touched the gear-shift indicator, too busy watching the road. I change gear when it sounds like its time to change.

Front has 4 lines showing
Rear Preload is set on position 2
Rear Rebound is 0.5 turns from full hard
Rev light is set at 11,000 RPMs
Rear shock has been very harsh. Recently I changed the Rebound setting from 1.5 turns from fully hard to 0.5 turns. I added more Rebound. It has made the rear of the bike much more compliant and controlled. I may get in the habit of adding a couple of clicks of rear preload when I load the bike up with luggage.

#4a Damper - 1/4 turn clockwise from the matching dots (starting point). Or 1.5 turns out from full hard to put it another way.
#5 Gear Shift Indicator RPM - Haven't seen it yet. Been to 10,000 rpm and it's never lit up. Kind of prefer it that way.
My bike has a slightly noticeable vibration right at 5,500 rpm's. I've found just over that (6,000 rpm's) to be a pretty good shift point so I wait a second or two after I feel that vibration, then shift.
I will be touring, but haven't done so yet. May have to put the rear back to 3 when the bags go on and I'm loaded up, but I doubt I'll mess with the front.

I'm 6'4"
I weigh 225
I have not altered the factory suspension settings yet.
I keep the shift indicator set at 6k because I'm still breaking it in and that is the max recommended rpm for the first 500mi. I'm about half done with the break in, it would happen sooner if it would just stop raining.
Without intent to hijack this thread ( )... I'm having troubles changing the gear shift indicator too. The manual said: 'Press and hold the select button, then turn on the contact. Hold the button for more than 2 seconds to change the settings.' (translated from dutch)
I tried that, and it didn't work... It just performed the startup checks and started the fuel injection, as if no button were pressed. By 'turning on the contact' they do mean turning the key to 'ON', not starting the engine, right? (holding the clutch, pressing the 'select' button and pressing the button to start the engine requires 3 hands, so that seemed to be a bit too complicated )
BTW In my manual it's section 2-12 and 2-13, not 3-12...
