Well I am 6ft 4in maybe 6ft 5in and I am a beginner biker. I am looking at two motorcycle; one is the Suzuki GSX650F and the other is the Suzuki GS500F.

The sell person is telling me that the GSX650F is better for me since I am tall and a beginner rider. I was just wondering what would be the best bike for me to purchase since I am a tall guy.

Any help would be greatly appreciate

Sincerely,
A Novice Rider

Have you considered the Vstrom DL 650 ? I know it's ugly but it is ideal for someone in your situation (a tall beginner). If you have to choose between the two bikes you mentioned I would go with the 650F which is not only a better bike all-round but is more roomy. I am 6'1" and while I would prefer more leg space on the 650F I can live with it.

Thanks GSXrider! The GSX650 does seem like a better bike than the 500. Thanks again

Well, if your a beginner "biker" I could suggest any one of the many Harley clones out there. Don't forget all that bad ass clothing to finish the look. Sorry, the term "biker" has a negative image.

Seriously, I would go with the GSX650F. I'm 6'2", and after flipping the pegs I found the bike much more comfortable.

I'm 6'3 and have no comfort problems on the 650, except for the usual butt-pain problems.

I did get the MRA touring screen though, which helped with the extra wind I caught a bit.

I almost got the 500, but I realized I'd be keeping whatever I got for a long time, and that small little jump in between just made me go with the 650 with a few more features, and fuel injection.

I only considered the GSXF, based on the coments in this Forum and have NEVER regretted it. It is a great bike.

First bike? You don't want to start off on too big of a bike, yet for tall people the selection of "starter" bikes is limited.

The V-Strom 650 has pretty good ergos for a tall person, and the foot pegs can be adjusted later with a kit. It's not really a good "first" bike, IMHO.

The Suzuki GS 500 is a good "starter" bike for a first bike.

The Kawasaki KLR 650 fits tall people pretty well. The Kawasaki Versys might work.

The Suzuki GSX650F, could be a "starter" bike, yet for a tall person, I think your legs will cramp up real soon when riding it.

Do a search on pegs and you should find one on flipping the peg mounts. You remove the rear sets, then the pegs, flip the clevis holding the peg, reinstall the pegs, reinstall the rear sets, adjust your shifter and rear brake, viola, down and forward about an inch.

While I am having a total "Love Affair" with my F, I would hesitate to recomend it to a begining rider. It is heavy and has alot of power. The folks that refer to it as a "Beginners" bike are refering to it as an entry level sport bike not a bike for a begining rider with no experieince
