I've taken a 3 day safety course specifically for motorcycles, it was like $150 and to me it wasn't really worth it (information wise). If you lack common sense or have zero experience then it might help, they do teach you essential skils. Didn't help that the instructor dumped his bike and broke his leg on the last day of the course... doing exactly what he spent hours telling us not to do... but the course was good for a hefty insurance discount

I have also taken defensive driving courses and 'advanced training' courses for standard automobiles, again maybe 3/4 of it was common sense stuff. Good to go over but neither course was that great. I learned some stuff that could also be applied to motorcycle riding which was a good bonus. And again I had another large discount on my insurance rates as a result of the courses.
IMO the best education is to get out on the road and pay attention. The more time you spend riding, the more you'll learn, the more comfortable you'll be, and the safer you'll be. Every area of the world is different and in the USA drivers will act differently in different states. By riding in your local area you'll get a good idea of how agressive other drivers are and whar you can expect them to do/not do.
