Story 0 Comments Font Size: BUFORD - A 23-year-old Buford motorcyclist died Tuesday night after a collision with a vehicle, police said.

Christopher Kiley died from injuries suffered when the off-road motorcycle he was riding struck a 1999 Mercedes ML320 in Buford. The collision occurred about 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bluffton Road and White Bluff Way.

Police said Kiley was westbound on Bluffton Road when the driver unintentionally turned into his path.

Kiley, who was not wearing a helmet, was traveling on the road illegally without using a headlight, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli.

"Due to the dark conditions, the (driver) was unable to see the motorcycle before she turned," Schiralli said.

Kiley was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center, where he later died.

Schiralli said investigators do not expect to press charges against the driver of the car.

The investigation is ongoing, he said.

Gear cannot be stressed enough!!

Please ride safely all,

John

Sad, really sad.
Would gear have saved his life? Who knows, for sure. But do you think his odds would have been improved?
ATGATT, guys/gals, ATGATT.

On positive note, looks like we may be able to do some long rides again this weekend .... temp will climb to 60's. YEAH!!!!
Last weekend was in 70's and sunny. For Nov that's unheard of!!

Please stay safe, all!!

It's a sad thing for sure.

A few weeks ago I saw a trail bike rider in my local town, late at night (again no headlight, or helmet) leaving a petrol station up on the back wheel.
I was in the car with my wife and he pulled out onto the road ahead of us, got the front up and gunned it past another car dropping just in time to go through a round-a-bout.
My wife had only two words to say "F@#king Idiot"

When shit goes wrong, should we honestly feel sorry for them? Unfortunately I think the answer is yes.
If I get cleaned up doing 200kmh in a 100kmh zone and end up in hospital, I know people will feel sorry for me. Even though I too was taking stupid risks.
