Gents, the knobs on the end of the levers are to prevent them from being inserted into you and others in a fall, NOT to keep your hands from sliding off! Those things in the pics above are daggers, not levers! Nice screen though...

I agree that the broken levers aren't a great solution to the problem you're experiencing.
I had a broken clutch lever once upon a time on another bike. The previous owner had a smaller clutch lever installed (he was a small person) that would force my pinky to overlap with my ring finger, causing instant cramps.
I attempted to straighten the lever out with two blocks of wood and a C-claim, but it simply broke with little exertion (cheap white metal lever...).
I'd recommend looking for aftermarket levers that will address your size issues rather than let the sharp-edged levers go as-is. Could get ugly in a spill, no doubt about that...
