a quick confirm -

Up in Boston, winterized this weekend

I do not have access to a garage or otherwise even covered area.

I pulled the battery, put it on a tender in my apartment. Poured STABIL into a full tank, and ran the engine to circulate it. Covered it well in a tarp and put it on the center stand to take the weight off the wheels.

Is there anything else I can / should do? I'm from LA so last winter I was riding year round. Never had to winterize anything before.

thanks

You pretty well have it. It just depends on how serious you are about it (I don't think there have been any serious studies about what works best).

Some people will do the following as well:
- Change the oil before storing (because there is moisture in used oil, and this can corrode internal engine parts).
- Thorough wash, and wax to keep rust from starting over winter.
- Engine "fogging" (pour a teaspoon of oil down each sparkplug hole to prevent corrosion in the combustion chamber)

Some instructions :

You have pretty much done it, just make sure your tarp has plenty of bungees on it so it doesn't rub on bike and dull it in the wind (ask me how I know) Take off tarp on nice days to get rid of any accumulated moisture, if any
