I tapped a sheep in the ass yesterday heading to work with the front end of my bike. That's my 4th close call with sheep on my road. I think the dude who owns them lets them out at night like they're a pet or something, perhaps lovers.
This thing waited 'til the last second then ran across the road, it would have been cool if he kept going but then he ran strait in front of me in my path of travel and I bumped him before I could hit the brake. I could not believe I was playing bumper cars with a sheep on a road. He ran off to the right after 2-3 seconds and all was well.
He was fine, as was I. I wasn't sure if I was hallucinating or not. I try and train myself ahead of time to deal with crisis' on a bike... but this one had me stumped and I didn't know how the hell to react that early in the morning.
Good to hear everything is ok. Any damage to the bike?
All animals are unpredictable, so the best thing to do is to pass them at low speed (= brake in advance ). That should give you enough time to react in case it decides to do something stupid...

No damage, a very slight bump.
Major part of the story is that he was not visible until he ran out, which was at full speed. He was behind some trees and bushes from what I can tell.
